If money didn’t buy things,

There would not be soccer games.

Little, colorful kids running and

Parents screaming from sidelines.

No concession stand for Sweettarts

and soft pretzels,

no Gatorade to quench a kid’s thirst.

If money didn’t buy things,

There would not be summer BBQ’s,

Fireworks on 4th of July and

Preteens somersaulting through sprinklers.

No beer for the shy and funny folks

Nor chips and cheesedoodles to soak it up.

If money didn’t buy things,

There would not be champagne,

No bottle opener for good times,

No toasts for prayers.

If money didn’t buy things,

We would not have cell phones.

No mobile camera for spontaneous moments,

No printer to develop pictures later.

If money didn’t buy things,

then what would?

A smile for a Happy Meal?

Compassion for a rose bouquet?

Support for a baseball game?

If money didn’t buy things,

Would people get along?

Would little moments

matter more?
