Blue, yellow, green, pink
The primary colors
That make up the border
On a Carvel cake
Twenty glowing, colorful candles
Including the one for good luck
Quickly melting onto the cold cake
Creating tiny wax tears for me to accidentally eat
A shock of chill
Freezing, frozen layers
Of chocolate and vanilla
Liquefying in my mouth
The layer of cookie crunch
Getting lost in the now white and brown milk
Producing a mesh of tasty flavors
Adding to my calorie intake, and to my happiness
The first year I altered birthday tradition
Asked for Carvel over the Hesh’s
That chocolate chip cake no longer satisfying
I was finally happy with my wish
